【Announcement】-- Important Notice – NKUST will start distance education practice from 5/9 (Mon.) to 5/22 (Sun).
1. All conducts must have to abide by the updated “Notice Governing Exercises for Colleges’ and Universities’ Suspension and Resumption of Classes in Response to COVID-19 and Teaching Adjustments for the Epidemic Prevention Response Measures” issued by the Ministry of Education.
2. As confirmed cases of Covid-19 growing in the recent days, our school decides to initiate a distance education drill to inspect our readiness for teaching adjustment in response to potential outbreaks. We will start distance education from May 9 (Mon.) to May 22 (Sun). We will resume in-person classroom instruction on May 23.
3. Regulations regarding the distance education drill are as followed:
(1) The distance education drill will start from May 9 (Mon.) to May 22 (Sun). We will resume in-person classroom instruction on May 23. Changes on the time will be announced otherwise.
(2) To better track students' activities, “real-time” distance education is preferred.
(3) The following information is to help support instructors to conduct “real-time” distance education:
a. Instructors must export students' contact emails from NKUST online learning platform (MOOCs) and send course distance education notifications to students of classes. How to export students' contact emails from MOOCs, please refer to this website.
b. Instructor must post course schedule and detailed information on distance education on MOOCs
c. How to keep a record of instructor's online teaching:
i. Instructors may record your teaching videos via the built-in recording function in Google Meet or Microsoft Teams.
ii. Instructors who cannot use the function of recording meetings on the above tools may use EVERCAM to record their teaching videos. Evercam tutorial videos, please refer to this video.
(4) All colleges and departments should inform part-time instructors about distance education drill details
4. Instructors should comply with the “Notice Governing Exercises for Colleges' and Universities' Suspension and Resumption of Classes in Response to COVID-19 and Teaching Adjustments for the Epidemic Prevention Response Measures” launched by MOE on Mar. 31st, 2020 when conducting the demonstration of online teaching and learning. Instructors should mind students’ attention, participation, and discussion, and record the class through software for future performance evaluation. 5. The epidemic prevention measures conducted by NKUST conform to the epidemic prevention guidelines announced by MOE, and it is subject to change according to the CECC and MOE.
